I’m Lisa Leland & I created Valley Pottery to share my love for all things clay, and for all things Napa Valley.

My love of clay started when I was a teenager growing up in southern New Jersey, a stone’s throw from Philadelphia. Ceramics class was a refuge for me and for many others and I was fairly skilled by the time I graduated high school. Then… life happened! I went to college (Rutgers) and law school (Villanova), had two kids and practiced law for over thirty years.

Fast forward…moved to California and now I live in one of the world’s most beautiful places. My ceramics are wheel-thrown, or hand-built; sometimes it’s both. I’m intrigued by shapes and forms, and by how our preferences are affected by our culture.
